Effects of Steel Fiber on the Propagation of Concrete Crack

This study focuses on the effect of steel fiber on cracked concrete. Steel fibers in concrete restrain the propagation of crack. In the paper, Plain high strength concrete and plain normal strength concrete, fiber high strength concrete and fiber normal strength concrete were tested respectively with split test and their capacity to resist propagation of crack was observed. It was found that, steel fiber in high strength concrete provided higher recovery of crack than in normal strength concrete during unloading. Therefore, high strength fiber concrete possesses higher crack resistance and durability than normal strength fiber concrete.
