Study and Application of Refuge Chamber in Coal Mine

Refuge chamber can greatly reduce the casualty due to disaster in underground mine, and it have been used very popularly in developed countries. Research and application of refuge chamber in China has been briefly introduced, then key factors in designning such as site selection, shape and capability, support requirement, equipment and instrument inside were discussed in detail. At last, variation law of several important parameters was experimentally studied. Results show that average value of oxygen and carbon dioxide concentration has been a tendency of decrease with accumulate time, and temperature inside the refuge chamber is about 5 degree higher than outside, and relative humidity is about 100%. High relative humidity does great harm to health of personnel inside the refuge chamber, and prevention measures should be adopted.
