Influence of Welding Power to the microstructure and properties of 304 stainless steel joints in CO2 laser welding
The means of optical microscope, microhardness tester and tensile tester were used to analyze the microstructure, microhardness and tensile strength of the joints of 304 stainless steel sheet welded by laser welding with different welding powers. The analysis showed that when the welding power is 1.4kw, the columnar crystals grow to the weld center, made the microhardness in weld center reached a maximum value of 205HV. While the welding power is 1.8kw, fine equiaxed grains grow in the weld center, and microhardness in weld center reached a minimum value of 195HV. Compared with 1.8KW, when the welding power is 1.4kw, weld width reduced from 2.5mm to 2mm, while the high of beam waist reduced from 1.0mm to 0.6mm, reduced the effective bearing area of the joints, which made the maximum carrying load reduced from 6000N to 4500N in the process of tensile test.
