Reliability Centered Maintenance for Floating Offshore Wind Power Systems

Floating offshore wind power systems increase the likelihood of collecting wind energy in deeper sea areas. With the launch of the state-of-art turbines, their maintenance should be carefully considered. In this article, the authors identify the main challenges in the maintenance of floating wind systems, and propose a structured reliability centered maintenance (RCM) framework based on existing literature, so to sustain the availability of the systems in their long life cycles. The main steps of the RCM analysis for floating systems are discussed and some research challenges are presented.
