Optimal Work-in-progress Management in Discrete Enterprises
Work-in-progress(WIP) plays very important roles in mainaining regular production and minimizing production costs. In this sense, its roles, allocation methods and optimum amount are analyzed. Its optimization model is proposed, where the proportional & integral (PI) control algorithm is adopted with sensitivity options as constraints. Simulation results confirm that PI controllers can ensure stable work-in-progress under dynamic demands.
