Low Earth Orbit Satellite Constellation Topology Design and Analysis for a Special Case
Low Earth Orbit (LEO) constellation satellite system can provide a seamless coverage and low propagation delay. Different from the general approaches proposed by other papers, a special application scenario in China was concerned in this paper. Based on the analysis of the link availability, two constellation topologies were proposed for this case. In order to realize an optimized system design a rather different method was used to evaluate the constellation topology. Considering the realization and technical problems in our country, the topology cost function was given. By taking traffic simulation according to the user distribution and traffic features, the link traffic loads were got and so do the topology cost. The results show that the topology cost is different with different users and traffic features. This can be good reference for the constellation topology design.
