Simulation of bridge dynamic performance under the living load of a moving vehicle
This paper presents the dynamic simulation of a 62.34m long steel reinforced concrete bridge under the living load of a moving vehicle by the nonlinear explicit time integration finite element method. The vehicle is a 30 ton weight truck moving on the bridge at speeds of 10km/h, 20km/h, 30km/h and 40km/h. The living load of the moving vehicle includes the live weight load of the vehicle and the interaction force between the vehicle tires and the bridge surface. The phenomena of friction contact and material nonlinearity are considered in the simulation. Field experiment has also been conducted to measure the vibration and local strain of bridge at the monitor points. The simulation results match the experimental data very well and the simulation is verified.
