MULTI-ZONE PARTICLE MODEL: THE EFFECT OF VENTILATION ON INDOOR CONCENTRATION

Participate matters constitute a major concern for indoor air quality (IAQ). The present work deals with the application of the multi-zone model coupled with COMIS to forecast the particle concentration of each zone and to discuss the effect of air exchange rate (AER) on indoor pollutant level. The variety of AER is changed by different ventilation modes and window apertures. The results indicate that enhancing the ventilation rate of the zone existing pollutant source by opening its window be the most effective way to reduce the concentration of this zone and prevent PM from transporting into other zones. Otherwise, it can be concluded that the window aperture is key to improve the IAQ for all the zones. However, altering the window aperture of a certain zone will increase the AER of the zone only.
