Effects of limited acceleration-deceleration capabilities and state of brake light on traffic flow
We present a new combined cellular automaton (CA) model for one-lane traffic flow. In this model, we consider the driver prejudgment according to the state (velocity and brake light) of the leading vehicle. We also consider the mechanical restrictions of vehicles realized by limited acceleration and deceleration capabilities, which is not considered in most models. Further more. Comfortable driving is considered, too. Using computer simulations we obtain some basic qualitative results and the fundamental diagram of the proposed model. Through these simulations, not only the start-stop wave can be obtained, but also collision-free flow as a consequence of moderate driving can be obtain. The flux of our model is closer to the measurement value than NaSch model. In comparison with the known models, we find that the fundamental diagram of the proposed model is more realistic than that of the known model.
