Theoretical Analysis of Tapered Fiber Microlens Parameter and Its New Fabricating Technique
Tapered fiber microlens is widely used to couple the laser light to fiber in communication and material processing. A new technique for making tapered fiber microlens is described. Firstly, one CO2 laser is used as an energy source to heat and taper the fiber pulled by a step motor in the longitudinal direction. Then the tapered fiber is cut into two parts from the middle of fiber by a fiber skiver. Finally, the instrument fiber fusion is used to form the microlens at the end of fiber. Project for measuring coupling efficient, including LD, tapered fiber, optical multi-dimension adjuster devices and power meter, is also presented.
