The Tempered Glass with Pin-loaded Joints: Modelling and Simulation
Pin-loaded joints are frequently used to assemble tempered glass panels in the glass curtain walls. The contact between the surface of different parts and the rotation of the pin-loaded joints can not be ignored when the work is concerned about cycling load. This paper investigates all important aspects for modelling the glass panels coupled with pin-loaded joints through carefully parametric studies. The simulation is concerning about strongly nonlinear phenomena, such as contact, friction and large deformation. Different size of the glass panels has been considered and the numerically obtained deformation has been compared with the current codes. The numerical results obtained by the finite element method can give some useful predictions on ther of the glass curtain walls.
