Implemental Issues on Middleware-Based Spatiotemporal Query Processing
In this paper, we study the implemental issues on a middleware-based spatiotemporal query processing system. The middleware approach is used to enhance query efficiency of spatiotemporal database systems built on a commercial object-relational DBMS (ORDBMS), such as Oracle. We first introduce the middleware-based idea for spatiotemporal query processing, and present two approaches to realizing the middleware, which are cost-based approach and constraintrules-and cost-based approach. Some implemental issues on the middleware-based spatiotemporal processing are also discussed in the paper. Finally, we conduct a comparison between our middleware approach with other structures, and the results show that the middleware approach provides an effective way to improve the efficiency of spatiotemporal queries in ORDBMS-based spatiotemporal database systems.
