Commutation Analysis of Doubly Salient Electro-magnetic Generator in SRG Mode with Finite Element Computer Simulation

Switched reluctance generating mode of doubly salient electro-magnetic generator was introduced in this paper. Subsequently, the magneto-static and electromagnetic transient simulation models based on finite element analysis were established. Meanwhile, the work principle of the generator and phase current commutation progress were analyzed in detail. Formulas of commutation time, overlap angle and the dc output average voltage drop as phase current commutate were deduced and the calculation method and procedure about commutation parameters above was performed, which combines magneto-static field simulation with electromagnetic transient simulation. In the end, the transient electromagnetic simulation in switched reluctance generating mode were performed, and the results verified calculation method of commutation parameters and showed that commutation parameters is influenced by the speed, load and excitation current of the generator primly.
