Numerical and Experimental Investigation on Centrifugal Fan with a VortexBroken Device
The flow field of the G4-73 centrifugal fan was numerically simulated with the software of Fluent. The numerical results show that large-scale vortex in volute were push forward, and the scale and intensity of vortex change in different circumferential cross section of the volute. A vortexbroken device was designed based on the idea of decrease flow loss and vortex noise through breaking large-scale vortex. Experimental results show that after the device was added, when relative flow more than 45%, total pressure increase significantly and high efficiency area broaden. Total pressure nearly increases 44 Pa at the design flow, and the efficiency average increases 3% when relative flow is 85%~100%. The device has a guiding significance of energy-saving for power plant.
