The Application of WEIBULL Distribution Function in Stand Diameter Growth and Mortality
8 permanent sample plots in the Polar-Birch (Populus davidiana Dode-Betula platyphylia Suk) Secondary Forests and 4 permanent observation plots in the Spruce-Fir forests in over-cutting forest in Changbai Mountain, Northeast China, were established. We used the diameter data of Aspen-Birech forest to model the Weibull diameter distribuiton. At the same time, the main coniferous species, which is Pinus koraiensis, Abies nephrolepic and Picea koraiensis, was continuous observed for 12 years from 1978 to 1990. We analysis the mortality distribution of each species, and Weibull function diameter distribution function, based on observation data of these plots, and was developed to model diameter mortality distribution. The results showed that Weibull function is suitable model for modeling diameter distribution and mortality in uneven-aged Spruce-Fir forests.
