A Removal Algorithm of Rain and Snow from Images Based on Fuzzy Connectedness
Due to the disadvantageous effects of rain and snow on image processing, this paper proposed a new removal algorithm of rain and snow based on fuzzy connectedness. Since the distribution of rain and snow was scattered in the image, a single seed point could not recognize all the rain and snow regions. Therefore, according to the impact of rain and snow on the pixel brightness, multiple seed points were used for fuzzy growth. Moreover, through adding distance factor, the growth termination was improved for the problem of over-connectivity. In terms of color change on pixels caused by object movement, the H component of the HIS color space was applied to reduce the impact of moving objects on rain and snow removal. Experimental results show that the proposed algorithm was more suitable to identify the rain or snow with different velocity, and better to eliminate the impact of moving objects.
