Three-Dimensional Terrain Visualization Based on 3S technology

Digital globe is a visual system based on geographical coordinate, provided with multi-resolution, mass data and multi-dimensional display. Three-dimensional terrain visualization is an important composition of researches about terrain visualization technology and digital globe, also is the foundation of realizing the multi-angle, multi-layer, real-time generation, display analysis and roam of three-dimensional terrain. Three-dimensional terrain visualization is the hot spot of researches in some fields such as Geographic Information System, digital grammetry photo, visual reality and so on. In the light of the present research situation of current threedimensional terrain visualization, and on the basic of absorbing the advanced theory and technical achievement of three-dimensional computer graphics, computation geometry, scientific calculation visualization, visual reality, and computer network, this article carries out a study, centered on the core contents of technology, the digital terrain model of threedimensional visualization, the generation of three-dimensional reality terrain, terrain simplification and multiple resolution. We capture the data of terrain elevation points by GPS, capture the real veins of topographical surface by RS and overlap data from various sources to produce threedimensional visual terrain scene by CIS. With the continuous development of 3S technologies, it quickens the speed of digital globes building and replacement, improves the fidelity and precision, and provides the national economy development and engineering construction with powerful technology support
