Preparation of Bacterial Cellulose Nanofiber with Silver Nanoparticles by In Situ Method
Bacterial cellulose nanofibers with silver nanoparticles were prepared using silver nitrate and sodium borohydride aqueous solution by in situ method. The prepared nanocomposites were characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM),X-ray diffraction (XRD),and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) test. The morphology of these nanocomposites indicated that the silver nanoparticles have been formed and distributed uniformly on the surface of the BC nanofibers. It was also found that the incorporation of silver nanopartilces onto BC nanofibers affected the crystal structure of BC nanofibers. Meanwhile, the thermal degradation temperature has been increased from approximately 260℃ to 340℃ for nanocomposites. The average size of silver nanoparticles is around 15 nm,which is bigger than previous report. This may be due to the aggregation of small nanoparticles, especially at high AgNO3 concentration.
