Synthesis and Application of MDI Water-borne Polyurethane Fixing Agent

The water-based polyurethane fixing agent was synthesized mainly from the reaction of diphenylmethane diisocyanate (MDI),polyethylene glycol (PEG) and dimethylol propionic acid (DMPA). The influence of time,temperature and DMPA dosage on the pre-polymerization was studied. Application of the fixing agent was also discussed. The results of tests showed that the optimum synthesis process is 100℃,140 ~ 160 min,and DMPA 7%. The fixing agent could significantly improve the wet crocking fastness of colored fabrics dyed with direct dyes,reactive dyes and acid dyes.
