Utilization of Enzyme in the Degumming Process of Jute Fibers
The jute fibers were treated with pectinase,cellulase,xylanase and their mixtures with the aim to study their effectiveness as degumming agents. The xylanse and pectinase had a good synergistic effect when their mixture was applied in the degumming process of jute fiber. And the optimum conditions for degumming were established as follows: xylanase concentration 0.8％,pectinase concentration 0.8％,treatment time 180min,pH value 8.0 and temperature 55℃. Furthermore,the SEM analysis showed that the removal of impurities on the jute fiber surface could be remarkably improved when enzyme was applied during the traditional chemical degumming.
