Preparation of Hydrostable Fiber Crosslinking Agent Containing Glycidyl Groups
Polymer containing glycidyl groups and double bonds was synthesized by copolymerization of styrene,glycidyl allyl ether and isoprene in controlled conditions. Results showed that the best fiber crosslinking efficiency was obtained at monomer molar ratio 1:1:1,when reaction temperature was 70℃ and reaction time was 5 hours. The FT-IR spectra of the monomers and polymer were determined and proved that the polymer contained hydrophobic benzene,epoxy groups for fiber crosslinking and double bonds for self-polymerization. Prepared polymer was applied to make handsheet of hardwood fibers and the handsheets were cured by UV radiation. The strength of the handsheet increased with addition amount of the polymer and curing time increasing.
