Structural Differences of Wild Silks and B. Mori Silk Characterized by FTIR Spectroscopy,XRD Diffraction and TG Analysis
Differences in secondary structure, crystalline structure and thermal property among B. mori silk and two wild silks of A. yamamai and A. pernyi are investigated by FTIR,XRD and TG analysis. The β-sheet structure is primary in three silk, and B. mori silk has the most βsheet structure. A. yamamai silk contains more a-helix structure, whereas more β-turn and random coil structures for A. pernyi silk. B. mori silk has the aggregation structure with high crystallinity and small crystallite whereas the low crystallinity and large crystallite structure for the two wild silks. The two wild silks display a lower initial degradation temperature, but a high temperature in the most speed of thermal degradation and a longer degradation process compared with B. mori silk, and the thermal stability of A. yamamai silk is better than A. pernyi silk.
