Effect of the Stretching Speed on Slenderized Wool by Stretching
The fineness of wool is one of the most important factors that determine the quality of wool. The crop of extra fine wool is insufficient to meet the requirement. To get wool finer, different ways were proposed, such as changes on the heritage of sheep, chemical treatment on wool and wool slenderizing by stretching. Among them, wool slenderizing by stretching is the most popular way because the outstanding effect and little damage to wool. Wool slenderizing by stretching resulted in changes in structure and properties of wool. Different factors during the stretching process affect the structure and tensile property of the slenderized wool, such as the stretching speed. The effect of the stretching speed on the property of slenderized wool was examined by analyse the changes of diameter and tensile properties of the slenderized wool. It was found that the different stretching speed during the stretching process may result in obvious changes in the diameter variation, extension and shrinkage in boiling water of the slenderized wool.
