Improvement on Light Fastness of Dyed Polyester Fabrics using Benzotriazole UV-absorbers

Three benzotriazole UV-absorbers were applied onto polyester fabric in one bath HT-HP disperse dyeing process respectively. The uptake properties of the benzotriazole UV-absorbers and their improvement on the light fastness of the dyed fabrics were investigated. The results showed that the UV-absorbers with smaller molecular weight and molecular volume had higher uptake on polyester fabric. The improvement on light fastness of the dyed polyester fabrics using UV-absorbers was determined by both the absorbency of the UV-absorbers themselves and the uptake of UV-absorber on fabric.
