Research on Anti-Felting Finish of Wool Fiber by Pretreatment in Supercritical Carbon Dioxide

In order to enhance anti-felting property of the wool fiber, a new method that the wool was pretreated in supercritical carbon dioxide fluid (SCCO2), and then treated by protease to strip the scale of the wool was studied in this paper. The results showed that the wettability has been improved obviously when the wool fiber was treated in SCCO2. Compared with the fiber treated by enzyme only, anti-felting property of the fiber was enhanced in this new method. Meantime, the breaking strength of the fiber was just decreased slightly. The optimum pretreated conditions in SCCO2 were 80℃, 15MPa and 30min.
