Preparation and Properties of Conductive Wool Fabric Based on Ni-P Chemical Plating with Pd-Chitosan Activation

In this study, an effective deposition of Ni-P alloy on wool fibre is proposed by a chemical plating approach with PdCl2 solution and a carrier agent chitosan (CTS). As a critical step in chemical plating of preparing electromagnetic shielding fabric, a variety of parameters of addition of CTS are investigated, to optimize the anchoring effect on wool. Conductive wool fabrics are prepared and characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and thermo gravimetric analysis (TGA). As the Ni-P weight on the fabric is 50 g/m2, the shielding effectiveness (SE) of the treated fabrics is 30-50 dB range from 100 MHz to 20 GHz.
