Effect of Low Temperature Plasma Treatment on the Pilling Property of Wool Fabric
In this paper, the influence of different parameters used for LTP treatment on the anti-pilling property of wool fabric had been examined and the results were compared with anti-pilling agent treated wool fabrics. When compared, the performance of antipilling treatment and LTP treatment were similar. Structural properties of wool fabrics were discussed with the use of SEM. The SEM images indicated that LTP treatment has the effect of descaling for wool fabrics by destroying the scales on the fibre surface. In addition, anti-pilling agent also has an effect on smoothing the fibre surface by covering the scales.
