Dyeing Properties of Wool Fabric Treated with Low Temperature Plasma
Wool fabric was treated with low temperature plasma and then dyed with acid dyes. Dyeing results revealed that plasma treatment improved the initial rate of dyeing and the time of half dyeing. The dye uptake increased significantly after plasma treatment. The improvement in coloration was elieved to be related with the damage of scales, which facilitated the diffusion of dyestuff molecules into the fibers. In addition, breaking strength increased slightly after plasma treatment.
