Preparation of Non-ionic Reverse Micelles with Triton X-100 for Dyeing of Acid Black 234
To save water in the coloration of wool fabrics, the non-ionic reverse were prepared with polyoxyethylene tert-octylphenyl ether (Triton X100), n-octanol and isooctane by adding small amount of aqueous solution of Acid Black 234 at room temperature. The critical micelle concentration (CMC) of Triton X-100 in the organic solution was measured through spectrophotometric method. And the effect of the mass ratio of n-octanol and Triton X-100 on the maximum water solubilization of the non-ionic reverse micelle was investigated. Additionally, the spectral characteristics and the existing state of Acid Black 234 in the non-ionic reverse micelle and aqueous solution were also studied and compared. The results indicate that CMC value of Triton X-100 in the n-octanol and isooctane solution is approximately 0.042 mol/L. Increasing the dosage of Triton X-100 leads to a higher maximum water solubilization. The highest maximum water solubilization was obtained when the mass ratio of n-octanol and Triton X-100 is 1.25:1. Moreover, the spectral characteristics of Acid Black 234 in the non-ionic reverse micelle are different from those in aqueous solution, suggesting that the existing state of the acid dye is not similar to that in aqueous system.
