Effect of Wool’s Surface Modification on Its Dyeing
Wools surface is oxidized by the potassium peroxymonosulfate, ultraviolet radiation and both of them. These processing methods will have influence on its coloration rate. And different handling conditions, for example, the changes of temperature, concentration and time will also have an influence to its coloration rate and tensile-strength. Some modern trial methods, such as FTIR-ATR, Microscope, Spectrophotometer and fibre tensile strength tester are used to research the wools chemicalcomposition, external structure, coloration rate, reversion rate and tensile-strength. The research results indicate: the wool which is treated by the potassium peroxymonosulfate has some changes, for example, its tensile-strength has a less decrease, but both coloration rate and reversion rate increase clearly. Both coloration rate and tensile-strength of the wool which treated by ultraviolet radiation reduce, but its reversion rate increase. All of the treated wools squama has a little loss, and external structure is complete on the whole. Therefore, the treated wool has a better integrative performance.
