Citric Acid as Crosslinking Agent for Grafting β-Cyclodextrin onto Wool Fabric

β-Cyclodextrin was grafted onto wool fabrics by citric acid as crosslinking agent using the pad dry cure technique. The factors affecting the percentage addon of the treated wool fabrics such as the concentration of β-cyclodextrin, citric acid and sodium hypophosphite, curing temperature and curing time were studied. The optimum process as follows: β-cyclodextrin 80g/L, citric acid 80g/L, cured at 160℃ for 3 min without sodium hypophosphite. As βcyclodextrin was grafted onto wool fabrics, the adsorption capacity and delayed release of fragrances, the breaking strength, whiteness and dyeing property were improved.
