Preparation and Application of Polymer Microemulsion as Binder for Pigment Printing on Fabrics
In order to obtain a nanoscale binder suitable for pigment printing on fabrics, a polymer microemulsion was synthesized via seeded semicontinuous microemulsion polymerization method, and monododecyl maleate (MDM) was used as cosurfactant and comonomer. Glycidyl methacrylate (GMA) was used as a crosslinking agent. The microemulsion was characterized by thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), particle size analyzing and used in pigment printing. The experiment shows that the pigment-printed fabrics using this microemulsion binder have excellent rubbing fastness, good washing fastness and soft hand feeling.
