Preparation of Chitosan and Its Application on Silk Fabric Dyeing with Mugwort Extraction
Dyeing behavior of chitosan pretreated silk fabric with mugwort extraction is the subject of the research. In this paper, chitosan had been produced from pupa shell of antheraea pernyi, the obtained chitosan were used to pre-treat silk fabric before dyeing with natural dyestuff extracted from mugwort. The structure of the chitosan was characterized by infrared spectrum (IR), the surface morphology of silk fabric was observed by scanning electron microscope (SEM), and the dyeing properties such as the K/S value, CIELAB values and color fastness for the silk fabric before and after finishing were investigated. The results indicate that the color strength(K/S value) are improved, the soaping color fastness and crocking fastness are always unchanged when silk fabric pretreated with chitosan dyed with mugwort dyestuff, while the chitosan treatment does not have much influence on the hue of the dyed fabrics.
