Coupling-Agent-Treated Conch Powder and its Application on PE/Conch Complex
Conch was a kind of natural well-designed composite with excellent mechanical properties, which provided us information for material design. The study explores activation treatment of conch powder by coupling agent--silane coupling agent and titanate coupling, and the characterization of the modified conch powder such as contact angle has been examined, then, modified conch powder was blended with PE matrix and injected by plastic machine, in order to test the mechanical properties of complex material such as tensile strength and impact strength. Scanning electron microscope results illustrated that conch particles dispersed well in PE matrix. Mechanical test results showed that the addition of modified shell powder can improve the tensile properties and impact properties with the optimum amount of shell powder by 3％.
