Preparation and Adsorption Properties of Chitosan-gelatin Composite Microspheres for Acid Dye
Chitosan-gelatin composite microspheres were prepared by the inverse suspension cross-linking reaction, using chitosan, gelatin as the raw materials, glutaraldehyde as the crosslinking reagent. Comparing the SEM micrographs, the result showed that the chitosan-gelatin microspheres were spherical in shape and about 20 μm in diameter. The data of FTIR spectra indicated that the composite microspheres were prepared successfully by the cross-linking. Moreover, the process parameters for Acid Red 337 sorption on the microspheres like pH, contact time, temperature and adsorbent dosage were investigated. The results displayed that the optimum adsorption conditions were of pH 2~3, contact time 100 min, temperature 30, adsorbent dosage 0. ℃ 7 g/L. The adsorption process fitted well with both Langmuir model and Freundlich model.
