Preparation of Fe(Ⅲ) and La(Ⅲ) Co-Doped TiO2-Loaded Cotton Fabrics for Aas-Phase Photocatalytic Oxidation of Formaldehyde
Formaldehyde emitted from buildings, furnishing materials and consumer products is one of the most dominant volatile organic compounds (VOCs) in an indoor environment. Fe(III) and La(III) codoped TiO2-loaded on cotton fabrics were prepared by textile finishing methods. The detailed surface characteristics of the Fe(III) and La(III) co-doped TiO2-loaded samples were obtained and characterized by X-ray diffractometer (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The photocatalytic activity of the Fe(III) and La(III) co-doped TiO2-loaded cotton fabrics were evaluated for formaldehyde degradation under UVA illumination in a gaseous phase. The results showed that the Fe(III) and La(III) co-doped TiO2-loaded cotton fabrics possessed photocatalytic activity higher than that of TiO2-loaded cotton fabrics. High removal efficiencies (up to 90%) were obtained with Fe(III) and La(III) co-doped TiO2-loaded sample, indicating their attractive photocatalytic properties for future application as air purifying building materials.
