Dyeing and Finishing Technical Strategies for Wool to Prepare for REACH Law
REACH is the new regulation on registration, evaluation, authorization and restriction of chemicals. It entered into force on 1 June 2007, and pre-registration began from 1 June 2008 and closed at 1 December 2008, the deadline for all chemicals registration is 1 June 2018. Therefore, for chemical producers, the most important thing is to find out how to register the chemicals, how to apply authorization and obtain permission of chemicals concerned about substances of very high concern (SVHC). In order to prepare for REACH, new dyeing and finishing technologies should be launched; chemicals concerned about SVHC, dangerous and intentionally released substances should be avoided. Under REACH, articles with intentionally released substances are required registration and evaluation, articles with SVHC are required an authorization accompanying notifying the present substances, prohibition of SVHC is also required in textiles. This research addressed some proposals of how to act in dyeing and finishing technical application for wool.
