Discussion on the Natural Fiber Degradation Index

Most of the synthetic macromolecular material would be involved in environment problems for the sake of the unevenness between the natural degradation ability of this material and the clarifying capacity of the nature. The macromolecular material degradation index varied inversely to its strength half-life period and directly to the life-cycle of its products, it could show people the natural degradation ability and degree of some kind of material. It had been proved by amounts of experiments that among all of the macromolecular material used in textile products, the natural fibre appeared to be good at the degradation index, where the celluloses performed better than the proteins; most of the synthetic fibres suffered an extremely low degradation index, for example, polyester fibre buried for 6 months could maintain a loss of strength no higher than 5%, its smooth surface as well.
