Study on Structure and Properties of Wood Fiber
The wood fiber is a new regenerated cellulose fiber, WOODSLK for its commercial name. The wood fiber takes trees as its material; it is extracted from wood pulps, which are obtained from trees after comminuting and high temperature cooking. We tested several properties of wood fiber, the tian zhu fiber, the modal fiber and the viscose fiber, which are dry strength, wet strength, crimp recovery rate, moisture regain, moisture absorption and moisture evaporation rate, specific resistance. We also observed the above several kinds of textile fibers section shapes as well as the vertical surfaces by scanning electron microscope. With comparative analysis of the properties of these fibers, we found that the dry strength of the wood fibers is better than the tian zhu fibers and viscose fibers, the wet strength of the wood fibers is just like the tian zhu fibers and better than the viscose fiber, but either dry or wet strength of the wood fiber is less than the modal fibers. The crimp recovery rate affects the fabric shape retention. The wood fiber has a good crimp recovery rate, so its fabric shape retention would be good. The wood fiber has the smallest specific resistance among those fibers, its anti-static performance would be the best.
