Effects of Different Amount of Air Layer under Clothing on Comfort

In human-clothing-environment system, there is one important area-air layer under clothing, which is between the surface of human skin and the most inner layer of clothes. In this paper, the study on the internal relationship among thermal comfort, contact comfort and pressure comfort have been done using the combination of subjective and objective evaluation methods focusing on the changing of the air layer thickness. The infrared thermograph camera and clothing pressure test which can measure infrared temperature difference and clothing pressure value are used to characterize changes of the amount of air layer under clothing. The results show in the process that air layer under clothing decreased from positive to negative, the three subjective sensations (thermal, prickle and pressure) increase gradually; the sense of prickle is positively correlated with that of thermal and pressure.
