Effects of Bast Fabric Properties on Wearing Comfort
Bast fabrics have good properties. And the affect of different kinds of bast fabrics properties on wearing comfort needs research. The relationship between subjective sense and objective properties on bast fabrics would play the role of guidance for bast products improving through properties. In this paper, typical fabric samples of ramie, flax, hemp and ramie blended with cotton are chosen. Firstly, test their properties including appearance properties and comfort properties. Secondly, make clothes with these fabrics in the same style for the wear trial of subjective comfort evaluation. In the test, the senses of coldwarm, roughness, softness, mugginess, body-sticky, moisture-absorption, itch and drapability are quantitatively evaluated. Finally, analyze comprehensively the effect to different senses through various properties. The result shows that the evaluation items in subjective wear trial except the senses of itch and roughness have significant correlation with the properties of bending strength, drapability, moisture permeability, thickness and weight.
