Characterization for Acoustical Behavior of Wool Assemblies in Density and Thickness Variation

Felt is widely made of Wool which can be found in acoustical application. But there is little analysis on acoustical behavior of wool assemblies in density and thickness variation. Here, measurement has shown that the density and thickness both have the effect on the acoustical properties, i.e. the linear reflection coefficient (LRC), linear absorption coefficient (LAC) and transmission loss (TL). It also presents that LAC increases as density is raised. Likely, with the same density, the increase of thickness improves the sound absorption performance. Furthermore, while it is in high density and thickness, TL enhances, indicating that the sound insulation is improved.
