Effects of UV-radiation on the Properties of Low Melting Point Poly (ethylene terephthalate) Fibers
The effect of UV-radiation on properties of low melting point poly (ethylene terephthalate) fibers was studied in this paper. The properties of LMPET fibers were characterized by Fiber Tensile Tester, SEM, DSC and WAXD. Mechanical property of LMPET fiber decreased with UV-radiation intensity rise and the extension of treatment time. SEM results showed that the surface morphology of LMPET fibers was destroyed by UV-radiation. It can be seen from DSC that crystallinity of LMPET fibers decreased with the UV-radiation intensity rise. Treated LMPET fibers indicated a random distribution of the planes and the appearance of new crystallinity planes.
