Hydrophilization of Melt-blown Polypropylene Nonwoven Fabrics by Using Migratory Additives

This research presented the hydrophilization of PP melt-blown nonwoven fabrics. A method of introducing two different kinds of migratory additives during melt-blown production was developed. DSC was used to analyse thermal properties of the three raw materials in order to establish the appropriate dual-slot-die parameters of melt-blowing process.SEM was used to study the web structure effected by adding additives. The static contact angle test proves that hydrophilic properties were obtained by means of using the novel migratory additive (CHA), while the addition of the traditional additive (RZ) does not. The concentration of the migratory additives in the nonwoven fabrics was formulated at from 2.5wt % to 6.5wt%, and liquid absorptive capacity test was carried out to illuminate the different hydrophlic effects of PP nonwoven fabrics.
