Underbalanced Gel Valve Completion Technology

With the exhaustion of conventional oil and gas resources, completion technology of underbalanced drill ing demonstrates its obvious advantages in the process of well exploration. The completion technology can not only discover oil and gas reservoir accurately, timely and effectively, but also can fully protect. The drilling operation in the underbalanced drilling process is easy to fulfill while the well completion is more difficult to accomplish, which severely affects the development and application of underbalanced drilling technology. Therefore, Tuha Drilling Technology Research Institute carried out special studies regarding the technical dif ficulties of completion in underbalanced drilling, and initiatively put forward the gel valve completion propos al. After a great number of experimental tests, Tuha Institute selected optimal formulas for the gel valve and conducted research on the formula with regards to its pressure resistance, intensity, sealability, stability, gel -forming time, gel -breaking time, construction technology and flowback process. In addition, this formu la has been successfully employed in 9 wells. This new underbalanced completion technology has not only extended completion methods of underbalanced operations, but also realized a HELC ( High Efficiency and Lower Cost) completion operation.
