The New Development of Conventional Gas Logging Data Interpretation Method

The difference in electric logging response between the oil zones and water zones in the U oil field is not ideal, which results in the difficulty to identify the reservoirs nature. To solve this problem,the mudlogging data interpre tation technique is applied to complement and improve the reservoir interpretation coherence and identify the low re sistivity oil zones. The research is executed based on mudlogging, wirelogging and TEST data of the U oil field. The formation correlation is the basement of the reservoir study which helps to determine the sand body relationship and the oil/ water distribution in horizontal and vertical directions. The new gas ratio Ip has been defined based on the Pixler chart interpretation principle, and the origin area was located by research into the gas ratio characteristics. Low re sistivity oil zones can be efficiently located by the combination of gas data and RD. Through the research of the Pixler chart interpretation principle, we can obtain a greater understanding of mathematic analysis for this conventional gas logging interpretation technique. New cross plots were created that use the new Ip series index to make plots versus depth, and these new methods modify the interpretation model used to e valuate reservoirs by gas logging data. The research result of the gas logging data interpretation method in U oilfield have been applied in the neigh boring oil field and other exploration wells, and has achieved significant outcomes.
