Space Based Microwave and Millimeter-Wave Power Combining
A high power amplifier is the key element of space microwave and millimeter-wave systems. For large power transmitters output of a few traveling wave tube amplifiers (TWTA) would be combined, while for medium and small power transmitters output of solid-state power amplifiers is combined. To comply with space requirements, some key problems must be considered seriously. This paper surveys progress in the development of power combining techniques in the microwave and millimeter-wave regime, focusing on those fit for space applications.
