A Computational Method for Groundwater Flow through Industrial Waste by Use of Digital Color Image
In this article we propose a computational method coupled with the digital color image and discuss its application to the numerical simulation of the groundwater flow through industrial wastes. The solution method combines finite difference approximations based on fictitious domain method (also called domain embedding method) and pixels which are arranged in two dimensional grid in the color image. The object is the groundwater flow through the industrial waste deposits which were dumped in Teshima Island. The mathematical model of the groundwater flow is formulated by Darcys law, the water permeability and transmission conditions on geologic boundary surfaces. The result of numerical simulations for two dimensional groundwater flow through industrial wastes is presented.
