THE APPLICATION OF PERIODIC REVIEW (R, T) INVENTORY POLICY IN PARTNER SELECTION UNDER STOCHASTIC DEMAND AND LEADTIME
We develop a procurement decision support model, which takes into account stochastic leadtime among members in our supply chain (SC) system. Demand uncertainty and deterministic leadtime decision between buyer and OEM; whereas leadtime between supplier and OEM are assumed to be zero have been considered in 2. Utilizing a periodic review (R,T), our model compares two mechanisms of (R, T) inventory policy, i.e. single-stage sequential and two-stage simultaneous mechanisms for one integrated supply chain entity (suppliers, OEMs, and buyers). For avoiding leadtime uncertainty, OEM and supplier need to have some amount of component safety stocks and decide the ordering way of components. We contrast these two following conditions of partners; (1) longer but more certain leadtime; (2) shorter but more uncertain leadtime. This decision affects total cost of all SC members. By considering time, frequency, and amount of orders, total SC cost will be evaluated. Based on our numerical results, by trading-off inventory cost and leadtime uncertainty reflected by replenishment and backorder costs, two-stage simultaneous mechanism brings more optimal solution in terms of time efficiency in reaching best solution. Finally, through our study, we can find that product stock-out probability (p) and demand rate in both mechanisms are good estimate of the optimal stock-out of components in replenishing its products for stochastic product demand problem, and the accuracy of each mechanism depends on the magnitude of p.
