EVALUATION OF DIGITAL WORK DESIGN SUPPORTING SYSTEM IN CONSIDERATION OF WORK BURDEN ANALYSIS

We have developed work design supporting system that aims to reduce the workers physical burden caused by poor posture in the execution of tasks. Working area and a human model are drawn using computer aided design (CAD) tools. These representations are shown in a virtual working area. The motion of the human model is planned step by step through the manipulation of the model via mouse and keyboard. Data pertaining to work postures held by the human model during the work is recorded and the degree of work burden that is associated with the postures held is calculated continuously. The OWAS (Ovako Working posture Analyzing System) method is used to evaluate work burden. Then, a work procedure guidance manual is produced based on the data. Thus, the design of the production system, the planning of operating procedures and the analysis of the work burden associated with executing various tasks are carried out continuously. By comparing the work burden analysis of this system and an occupational physicians analysis to an example work, the validity of this system is evaluated.
